This type of artwork speaks to us of human connection, relationships and our relationship with our environment. Beach painters, beach artists create beach memories with positive affirmation.
So many of us truly love the beach! When we do there is constantly the desire, reminders, appeals and the motivations to somehow and in some way get there. It’s like a mystical call constantly beckoning. Beach paintings help!
All beach lovers acknowledge the feeling of the sand around our feet on which we have staked our claim. We feel it between our toes. Everyone has built castles, dug trenches, held down blankets, tasted sandwiches with a little grit and blown off potato chips. We love the beach.
What makes this particular form of art so different? To many an artist, beach artist, it’s the experiences of ones own life. It is the observations of the hordes of fellow humans void of baggage and barriers engaging in seemingly useless endeavors at the scenic beach. It is the way all the human senses are occupied at so many levels during the hours that they are, in a sense, on a completely different planet. Move all of these into a mixing bowl with vivid elements of sky, clouds, water, mist, waves, bird life, sea creatures, a party or gathering type atmosphere, a consciousness or potential of being burned as well as intense sun light draining and replenishing all while casting shadows and creating reflection. All these things and much more being applied to canvas take us beyond mere thoughts but it allows us to truly remember, to almost feel the breeze, nearly hear the concert of the water and even intensely almost taste the salt.
These works take time. They take thought, lots of it. They take an engagement. They take observation and study. There are so many questions that must be answered to create one. What do I see? What are the elements telling me. Why do I love this? What do I want the viewers to see and experience? How am I going to communicate my thoughts, my message my intent? What am I trying to create? what am I missing? What is the plan ? What is my mind’s picture? There are more questions than answers and then there is the performance along with a whole new set of questions, disciplines, techniques and experiences. There are the design elements and visual effects, color, shapes, texture, emphasis, contrast, unity, balance and a whole lot more.
Somehow, the communication begins, application upon application, correction upon correction, construction upon non construction, over pursuit against simplicity, again on and on. Finally, well maybe not just finally, but at some point the mind, the eyes, the senses, the feelings, the concert of engaging the full orchestra reads that last note and the brush or the pen goes down. It’s very different from the stopping, staring, reintroducing, it is a finality, a possession, a satisfaction, a very pure moment.
Out of artists mixing bowls created from all the proper ingredients comes wonderful beach paintings that within the spectrum of our memories take us to one of our very most appealing places.
These paintings are reminders of places and times where we’ve dreamed, where we’ve truly relaxed, where we’ve read, where we’ve engaged, and thought about other things other than ourselves. They in and of themselves give us a breath and a prompting that things just might work out and more often than not they are reminders of God, His creation, His design, His beauty and His goodness.
May you find one of these magnificent paintings or may paint-tings find you! Many are here at this site sold on canvas as a fine art giclee.
